This fabulous jacket is by Jean Paul Gaultier and is a wonderful example of the kind of tailoring he was doing during this time period. It also shows his level of innovation at this time by taking what at first glance appears to be a basic black jacket and switching up some of its elements to make it his own statement. The jacket is lined with that odd shade of a deep acidic mustard that he favored. So you get this flash of color when you wear it open. It is structured like a men's suit with formal lines and a crisp cut. Flap pockets sit on each hip and another one sits above the breast. But it is curved in through the waist to flatter the female figure. It also has a beautiful Fleur-de-Lis design incorporated into the black lace collar. There the thread is of a heavier weight so that the collar has structure and body but still with the feminine touch of the black lace. It is fabulous. Excellent condition
Fully lined in ribbed silk and closes with the buttons down the front. There are three pockets on the outside and a 4th button pocket on the inside of the jacket. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Tagged a vintage JPG 38. The shoulders are lightly padded and slightly exaggerated so they extend past the natural shoulder
