I recently had a runway piece in the shop from this same collection and I have decided to let this gorgeous production piece that I have had tucked away for some time out and into the world as well. This is from the fall 2005 collection. Its slightly more cropped silhouette is fabulous and a piece you can easily mix and match with other pieces in your existing wardrobe for the perfect pop of vintage.
I love the chic feel that this jacket has and that it is also beautifully constructed. The shoulders are shaped but structured, and that's achieved by the seeming, as there's no padding inside. The sleeves are long and slightly flare at the cuff with that added crocheted detailing at their ends. The body and sleeves are a printed leopard goat skin and then the jacket's shape is defined by the wool crochet detailing. The jacket is made up of leopard printed panels that are separated by the sections of the crochet work. It has no collar and the crochet runs around the neck, down the front and then wraps around the hips. More crochet runs up the seams of either side of the jacket and then down the inside of each sleeve and around where the sleeves are set. I love how some of the crochet has a ribbon woven through it and the scalloping detail that sits at the end of each cuff and around the hem. It is quintessentially John Galliano and it is stunning. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a brown silk and has hidden fur hooks down the front to close. Tagged. a US6, GB10, FR38, IT42.
